Committee Overview 2015 Iowa Communications Alliance volunteer leaders are the lifeblood of this organization. Committees are instrumental in allowing the Association to provide value and service that our members depend on. Our committees provide a great opportunity to get involved, network with your peers, and exchange ideas with other experts in your field. Please contact Jolene Davis at jolene@icacommunicationsall.com or Dave Duncan at dduncan@iacommunicationsall.com or call 515-867-2091 if you are interested in volunteering for any of these. We will pass your name to the committee chair that will be making the committee member selection. Annual Meeting & Expo Committee: The Annual Meeting and Expo Committee plans the Association’s annual conference, membership meeting and trade show. The committee is responsible for selecting topics and speakers of interest to the members, scheduling, marketing & advertising the event, and actively participating during the event. The Annual Meeting and Expo is held in Des Moines in early March of each year. Continuing Education Oversight Committee: The Continuing Education Committees identify topics and subject matters of interest to ICA members and their employees and advise each of the subcommittees on direction and content. It also oversees the Certificate Programs established by the Association. The subcommittees then plan, coordinate, and implement training sessions and other continuing education opportunities. The Oversight Committee is comprised mostly of the chairs and co-chairs of the subcommittees, with other interested volunteers. Here are the four subcommittees, each targeted to a key audience inside a communications provider: Manager’s Training subcommittee. Organizes, directs and produces timely meetings to address key industry developments, regulatory changes and other hot topics of interest to general managers and their key staff. Marketing and Front Office subcommittee. Works to provide members with the education, tools and resources to successfully market their products and services. Gathers industry information to promote the telecom industry in Iowa. Produces the annual Marketing and Front Office Conference to educate members on the need to market, as well as current and innovative marketing practices. Technology subcommittee. This committee works closely with industry partners and community colleges in Iowa to produce training and educational opportunities focused on current and new technologies of importance to communications providers. This committee plans and organizes appropriate educational training seminars and sessions. 1 Video subcommittee: The Video Committee gathers the latest information and creates knowledge and resources to assist members who are providing video services or who are considering providing video services. Golf Committee: The Golf Committee plans, organizes and assists with running the Association’s golf events. This includes all meal functions, give-aways, registering golfers and actively participating during the events. Regulatory Relations Committee: The Regulatory Committee advises the _ Association on all regulatory matters coming before the Iowa Utilities Board, the FCC, and other regulatory agencies, as well as matters affecting our industry as a whole. Participants often break into key task forces and subcommittees to study industry issues. Tariff Subcommittee. The Tariff subcommittee assists in making changes and updates to the ITA Model Tariff and the ITA Access Tariff. Legislative Committee: The Legislative Committee advises ICA on matters before the Iowa Legislature and the Governor’s Office, and assists in grassroots development programs. It also advocates changes in Iowa law that will advance telecommunication services for the betterment of Iowa and its citizens. Members of this committee are expected to have personal interaction with their own legislators and with other elected officials and staff. TelePAC Committee: The TelePAC promotes personal participation in our industry’s Political Action Committee. It identifies and coordinates appropriate fundraising events, and determines the level of financial support given to legislators who support our industry. In order for our industry to be successful in our lobbying efforts, we must help to elect individuals who understand and support our views on legislative issues. The Committee has representatives from ICA’s members including Iowa Network Services. Members of this committee are expected to have personal interaction with their own legislators and with other elected officials and staff. Scholarship Committee: The Scholarship Committee invests in the future of our industry by raising funds and distributing scholarships that benefit our members and the communications industry.
