Prayer Diary - Suggestions for daily prayer Monday Lord God, We thank you that you are shining your Light into peoples’ hearts. We are excited that in our own parishes You are drawing new believers to turn from the world and to trust in Jesus. Father we pray for these new Christians: protect them, feed them with your Word, fill them with your Love and guide them in your Way, Amen Tuesday Heavenly Father, Lord of all, Thank you that Your heart reaches out to each and every person; that Your heart desire is that everyone will turn and trust in you. We pray that hearts will hear your knock upon their door; that they and we will hear and open up, and invite You in; that they and we shall live and sup with you. Amen Wednesday Heavenly Father, we know we are so weak; but You Father, we know, are strong; You never weary; You are ever faithful; Thank you that you tell us ‘The Joy of the Lord is our strength’; Lead me to rejoice in Jesus, at all times, in all things, no matter what. For He is my Lord and reigns over all. Amen Thursday Lord, draw us to hunger for you. Grant us conviction in our hearts and minds that we will choose in faith to hunger for you. Stir me to a private prayer before you; that I may know You more nearly, love you more dearly and be brave to walk in Your call upon me. Amen Friday Lord you know our lives are so busy. Time seems so precious and so short. Lord, help me please. Stir me to set aside a time, however short, that I may each day be in stillness with You. For Lord I hear these words you speak: ‘Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted’ and Lord I want to exalt You. Amen Saturday Lord, I offer to you all those things of the past week, my worries and concerns, the things I have done well and the things I could have done better, and I pray especially for …………… who you have placed into my thoughts as needing your loving presence. Amen Sunday O Lord, Make the doors of our church wide enough to receive all who need human love and fellowship, and your care, and narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride and uncharitableness. Here may the tempted find succour, the sorrowing receive comfort, here may the careless be awakened to repentance, the penitent be assured of your mercy; and here may all your children renew their strength and go on their way rejoicing through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen Thank you to Michael Shellswell for the prayers this month, if you would like to write prayers for this page of Octobers Bulletin, please contact Anne by September 21st August 2015 Three Rivers Team Looking back to July- in brief, what a month! ARRIVAL OF REVD HEATHER WEST Heather was welcomed to the team with a lunch in Lewannick on Sunday 5th after her ordination in Truro Cathedral on the 3rd; we hope and pray that she had an enjoyable curacy with us. GARDEN SAFARI After a damp start the weather improved and showed the selection of wonderful gardens off to their best. After the gardens delightful refreshments were served at Pat Dibb’s NEFARIOUS – Merchant of Souls The film was watched by 18 people, and dealt with the issue of sexual exploitation of children and women. The staggering figure is that one child is trafficked every 30 seconds. We will be following this up in 2016 and hope to develop a Lent event around the need for improved awareness on this uncomfortable subject. PRAYER SERVICE The second of the new Third Sunday Evening Services was held on 12th July in North Hill, a time of quiet and offering of prayers to God SOUTH PETHERWIN COMMUNITY SHOP OPENING The church was full for the joyful opening by Bishop Tim. Thanks were offered to all those who worked so hard and refreshments shared. Items were purchased from the shop which is now open daily from 8-12 Monday to Saturday. GOD IS FULL OF SUPRISES 24 peopled gathered to hear Penny Shellswell speak about her work in Malawi with both passion for the work of spreading the Good News of Christ and with humour about the conditions that she finds herself coping with. Newsletters from the Alabaster Ministries with whom she has been working with are available in the churches. NEW WORSHIP LEADER It is a delight to welcome Michael Shellswell as a worship leader to the team. He was commissioned at a service in St. Mabyn Church on Sunday 26th July, congratulations, he will be serving across the team where and when necessary.
