Challenge Program on Water and Food

The 2012 Mekong Forum on Water, Food and Energy is hosted by
The Challenge Program on Water and Food is an international, multi-institutional research
initiative established by the CGIAR. The CPWF brings together researchers, development
specialists, government policy makers, NGOs, the private sector and civil society
organizations in six of the world’s largest river basins: the Ganges, Limpopo, Volta, Nile and
Mekong plus the Andes system of river basins. http://waterandfood.org/
The Institute of Water Resources Planning is a professional agency under Vietnam’s
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The Institute’s mission is to plan water
resources development to regulate water use and to protect and sustainably develop water
resources and aquatic environments for socio-economic development.
M-POWER, the Mekong Program on Water, Environment and Resilience, is a network of
collaborating organizations and individuals working to democratize water governance in the
Mekong Region. M-Power’s mission is to support sustainable livelihoods and healthier
communities and ecosystems in the Mekong Region through action-research, dialogues and
transboundary knowledge networks that encourage diverse collaborative relationships and
improve policy and practice settings.
The International Water Management Institute is a nonprofit, scientific research
organization focusing on the sustainable use of land and water resources in agriculture to
benefit poor people in developing countries. IWMI is headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka,
with regional offices across Asia and Africa. The Institute works in partnership with
developing countries, international and national research institutes, universities and other
organizations to develop tools and technologies that contribute to poverty reduction and
food and livelihood security.
The Challenge Program on Water and Food is a partner of
The CGIAR Research Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems combines the resources of 14
CGIAR centers and numerous international, regional and national partners to provide an
integrated approach to natural resource management research. This program is led by the
International Water Management Institute.
