a. Anesthesia Research / Scholarly Pursuit Night
Student Group: Anesthesia Interest Group

We have recruited several faculty members with ongoing research projects to talk briefly
about their work. This is a great opportunity for you to find an interesting Scholarly
Pursuit project/mentor if you're a MS4 or a summer project if you're a MS1! Or even if
you're a MS2 ot MS3 looking for any research experience to add to your CV. The
department will provide sushi/pizza dinner and BEER.

--c. “Teaching as a Resident,” lecture by Dr. Barton

Dr. Todd Barton will be giving a talk "Teaching as a Resident" Thursday, April 25th
from noon to 1pm on the 14th floor of BRB (BRB 1412). Dr. Barton is the Associate
Program Director for the internal medicine residency program at Penn. He is also a
recipient of the Penn Pearls teaching award in 2010 and has taught as part of the Medical
Education Frontiers course. This talk will focus on how to be an effective teacher as an
upper-level med student, intern, or resident. So come enjoy the view from BRB 14 while
soaking in some of Dr. Barton's teaching wisdom. After the talk Dr. Barton will be open
for questions on his lecture and also on making medical education a part of your career.

The results from the 2012 medical app survey can be found on the MSG website at

a. MS3 Monthly Happy Hour
Student Group: MSG MS3 Class Reps
When: Every Third Thursday (Next: May 9th, 6p)

These are monthly happy hours at New Deck Tavern where MS3s can catch up with one
another now that we're all moving along with different schedules. They will occur on the
third Thursday of each block so that if an MS3 must miss one due to scheduling conflicts,
they can attend the next one the following month.
b. Israel Give & Tech

Israel Give & Tech is a brand-new Taglit-Birthright Israel trip, in conjunction with Israel
Free Spirit. It's designed for Jewish people interested in experiencing how Israel uses its
technological innovation for tikkun olam, or repairing the world. This free 10-day trip
will depart from New York in early July. It is open to applicants from USA and Canada,
however all participants are responsible for their travel to and from the US gateway city
of departure. Registration is now open. Go to www.israelfreespirit.com/tech to start the
application. In Section 5, choose Israel Give & Tech as the trip selection.
