REVISING CHECKLIST PART TWO
Please see p. 44 in your SpringBoard book for tips regarding revising your opening, ending, title, spelling, and grammar.
DOES YOUR NARRATIVE OPENING USE ONE OF THE AQQS STRATEGIES? If it does not, revise your opening so that you use one of the
techniques described on p. 44.
DOES YOUR ENDING INCLUDE A REFLECTION? If you did not tell what your learned from the incident using appropriate transitions
and descriptive language, revise it.
DOES YOUR NARRATIVE TITLE INCLUDE KEY WORDS FROM THE MAIN IDEA? DOES IT USE INTERESTING, DESCRIPTIVE WORDS?
DOES IT STATE THE CHANGE THE NARRATOR EXPERIENCED IN A CLEVER, NON-GENERIC WAY? IS YOUR TITLE UNIQUE? If your title
does not do each of the mentioned things, revise it.
DOES YOUR NARRATIVE HAVE ANY SPELLING ERRORS? If so, correct them using spellcheck or use a dictionary.
DOES YOUR NARRATIVE USE PROPER GRAMMAR? (Subject/verb agreement, correct pronoun usage, correct tense, proper
punctuation, no run-ons, no incomplete sentences etc) You may consider having a friend, sibling, or parent look over this again to
help you correct any grammar errors.
YOU WILL HAVE MONDAY AND TUESDAY NEXT WEEK TO WORK ON WRITING
YOUR REVISED DRAFT. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING A HEAD START AT HOME,
SO THAT YOU HAVE A FULL WEEK TO WORK ON IT AND DON’T RUSH TO
COMPLETE IT INADEQUATELY.
