Course Description

This course will focus on the choices that are important for cultivating and sustaining an effective and efficient organization. A company’s profitability and success, the engagement of the employees, and consumer satisfaction are all impacted by the leadership’s actions. Therefore, in order to ensure long term growth it is necessary for a company to create a healthy organizational identity. This is predicated on the pipeline of leadership talent within the organization. Succession planning requires a proactive approach. This class will focus on the best practices for developing and coaching leaders as well as the creation of organizational systems that will ensure the company has strong leadership talent for future success.

Learning Outcomes

Upon course completion, students will:

1. Identify some behavioral problems of managing in increasing complex, diverse and global high performance and underperforming organizations

2. Explain the determinants of effective high performance behavior in terms of productivity, satisfaction and growth

3. Develop our abilities to predict consequences of recommended actions and solutions intended to influence behavior in the appropriate direction

4. Develop an understanding and personal skills in handling difficult personal, interpersonal and team based situations

5. Develop your leadership through a competency-based learning plan.

6. Strengthen your team by using development best practices to facilitate learning.

7. Build trusting partnerships that ensure coaching conversations are productive.

8. Define an effective talent development process.

9. Assess leadership/talent management in your organization.
