Course Catalog Description: Spanish III further develops aural-oral facility through more varied listening and speaking activities. Grammatical concepts are reviewed and analyzed, while vocabulary development and proficiency skills are fostered in conversational settings. In addition, there is appreciation of Hispanic culture. (Prerequisite: Grade of “B” or better in Spanish II and Department Chair approval.) Course Description and Student Learning Objectives: The purpose of this course is to help students develop the competencies delineated in the Standards for Foreign Language Learning. Class Guidelines and Expectations Pre-requisite: B or better in Spanish II Methods of Instruction: Several forms of instruction will be used during the course of the semester. All phases will require student participation and interaction. Materials: Text: Realidades 3 2 Students are expected to bring their text, workbook, and homework notebook to class each day. Homework: No late homework is accepted, although, one excused homework per semester is allowed. Homework assignments are posted daily on my web site. Your name, date, and page number must be written in ink in the upper right hand corner of the page Make-up work Students have two class days to make up homework assignments. Check my web site for assignments. Missed tests must be made up upon the students return to class. It is the responsibility of the student to arrange the time to make up the test. Grading 90 - 100% = A 80 - 89% = B 70 - 79% = C 60 - 69% = D Percentages are based on the number of points earned on assignments, tests, projects, dialogs etc. The points are then given a letter grade. Semester grades are cumulative; the quarter grades are not averaged. Students should check their grades on line. Parents will receive an email if their son’s grade drops below 75%. Electronic Devices: Cell phones, computers, ipads etc. are not to be used in class, unless I give you permission. Any electronic device is subject to confiscation if used without my permission. Academic Integrity Students will receive a 0 for cheating, plagiarism, or falsification. In addition parents and counselor will be notified. Classroom Procedures: Students are to enter the classroom with their shirts tucked and must be seated in their assigned seat when the bell rings. Students are to use the restroom between classes. Walking around the classroom is not allowed. Please ask permission if you need to leave your seat. Remember, treat others the way you want to be treated, respect and kindness promotes an atmosphere conducive to learning. Respect your teacher, peers, classroom equipment and yourself. Extra Help: I am available before or after school for tutoring.
