Temporary Household Waste Recycling Centre, Centurion Way, Farington Briefing Note The temporary recycling centre on Lancashire Business Park was granted planning permission and a site license on 19th July 2012. Some engineering works have since been necessary for licensing requirements, security and to accommodate safe public access. The facility will now open to the public on Wednesday 25 th July. The Recycling Centre will be open every day between 8am and 5pm. A full HWRC service will be available at the facility with the exception of asbestos (which requires special site licensing) or oil of any kind (which requires special site drainage arrangements). These could not be accommodated on this site and householders with those wastes will need to visit Preston or Chorley HWRCs. Extra staff are being provided to help householders unload their rubbish in order to ensure that their time on site is kept to a minimum. All containers will be serviced between 5pm and 7pm at night to ensure that closure of the site for wagon maneuvering is kept to a minimum. Contingency arrangements are in place to keep vehicles flowing should the facility need to close during normal opening times. Road signage has been erected to direct householders from the Farington HWRC to the temporary facility. A communications program will commence on Wednesday 25th July to inform householders that the facility is now open. If you have any queries please contact Steve Scott, Head of Waste Management on 01772 533755.
