Put Email into Nolij:
1. Check for Special Email conditions
 Attachments: attachments must be removed (see below) and inserted into NolijWeb as separate items.
 Secured Signatures: emails which have secured digital signatures must be copied to plain text before
being inserted into NolijWeb.
 Dancing Emoticons: any content of this sort also requires the email to be converted to plain text.
 See specific instructions, below, for dealing with each specific condition.
 NOTE: In the instructions below, messages and attachments are copied onto the desktop. During the
copying process the operating system will omit the following characters from names of files being
created: \, /, :, *, ?, “, <, > and |. This should not pose a problem to the user unless the omission of
the character would make the copied file name be the same as one already existing on the desktop. If
this occurs, simply change the name of the file already on the desktop, and repeat the copy step.
2. Emails with no special conditions:
1. Drag the email to desktop by simply selecting it on the inbox and dragging it to the desktop:

Open the Nolij folder which should contain the email. Then open the system browser and use it to find
the email on the desktop:
3. Select the .msg and drag it into the “Folder Objects” area. The system will display a message saying how
many files are being uploaded:
4. Nolij will add the object to the end of the folder objects list.
5. Finally, delete the message file from the desktop.
3. Special Conditions: Attachments in the email header:
1. If the attachment is displayed in the header of the email:
drag the email to the desktop after selecting it on the inbox:

2. Double click on the message file on the desktop to Open it:
Then, Drag any attachments to the desktop – a simple drag and drop works for these:

3. Right click on the attachment and choose “Remove” from the menu which is displayed:
4. Close the message file answering “Yes” to: “Do you want to save changes to the attachments?” The
desktop copy of the message will be altered, but the email itself will remain unchanged.
5. Drag the .msg file and the separate attachment(s) into the Nolij folder objects area by following steps 2 – 4
in the “No special conditions” area above.
6. Now delete the files from the desktop.
4. Special Conditions: Attachments imbedded in the email.
1. If the attachment is displayed in the body of the email (rather than in the header):
Close the email, and drag it to the desktop from the inbox list (see step 1 in the “no special
conditions” area, above).
Then , double click the message file (.msg) on the desktop to open it:
2. Right click on the attachment. Choose “Save As” on the popup menu:
. Save the attachment to your desktop.
3. Next, click the Windows “Office Button”in the window containing the .msg file:

and choose “Save As” again. This time save the message to your desktop as a .txt file by selecting “Text
Only” in“Save as type”:
4. Close the message (.msg) file and delete it from your desktop.
5. The. txt file and the separate attachment may now be dragged into the Nolij folder objects area by
following steps “2 – 4” in the “No special conditions” area above.
6. Delete the other files added to your desktop during this process.
5. Special Conditions: Secured Signatures.
1. Open the email.
2. Click on the Windows “Office Button”:
Choose “Save As”, saving the message to your desktop as a .txt file by selecting “Text Only” in“Save
as type”:
3. The .txt file may now be dragged into the Nolij folder objects area by following steps “2 – 4” in the
“No special conditions” area above.
4. Now delete the .txt file from your desktop.
6. Special Conditions: Dancing Emotocons.
1. Open the email.
2. Click on the Windows “Office Button”:
Choose “Save As”, saving the message to your desktop as a .txt file by selecting “Text Only” in“Save
as type”:
3. The .txt file may now be dragged into the Nolij folder objects area by following steps “2 – 4” in the
“No special conditions” area above.
4. Now delete the .txt file from your desktop.
