Ciência sem Fronteiras (Science Without Borders) DCU PhD Project Template: **Please use one form per project** Please complete & submit to your Head of School by Monday 16th July PI name & contact details: School: Research Centre / group affiliation: Research group / centre website: PI website / link to CV: Dr. David Sinclair david.sinclair@computing.dcu.ie School lof Computing Lero, the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre www.lero.ie CloudCORE http://www.computing.dcu.ie/research/cloud-computingresearch-centre-cloudcore wwww.computing.dcu.ie/~davids Brief summary of PI research / research group / centre activity (2 or 3 lines max): Data security and identity security in the Cloud. Verification of Distributed Systems. Modelling and verifying Quality of Service in Cloud-based and Distributed Systems. Title & brief description of PhD project (suitable for publication on web): Data Mining Identities in the Cloud Just like Neil Armstrong’s footprints on the Moon, data in the Cloud persists. The first step in protecting a user’s identity is to truely understand the threat that data mining poses to different user anonymisation techniques. This research will develop new tools and techniques to data mining information about users in the Cloud and to construct detailed user identites. Unique selling points of PhD project in DCU: DCU projects should offer something that’s not available in Brazil – specific equipment, multi-disciplinarity, aspects of structured programme, links with industry, placements, links with other research groups etc. The School of Computing in DCU is active in multiple research centres that are directly related to modelling and analysing various aspects of Cloud-based computing. By undertaking this research you will be collaborating with leading researchers in: Lero, the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre IC4, the Irish National Cloud Computing Competency Centre CLOUDCore, DCU’s Designated Research Centre in Cloud Computing.
