Costumes have been ordered!!! (How exciting!) HOWEVER, there may be some things
your little dancer is still missing. What might these things be? There is a comprehensive list for
students 3-5 and another for students aged 6 and up available on the website. Objects may include;
nude undergarments, ballet shoes, tights, foundation, pencil eye liner, liquid eye liner, blush, eye
shadow, and possibly more or other things! There will also be more specific make-up and hair
details that will be included shortly (April).
If you have any questions regarding the items on the list, or you have comments or
concerns regarding costume pieces (such as tights, ballet shoes, or undergarments) please speak
with me as soon as possible. We still have a few months before the performance, but better to have
everything taken care of now!
PLEASE NOTE: Costumes will NOT be sent home until AFTER the recital. Costumes
need to be aired out, cleaned, steamed, and there is already a set of costumes needing alterations.
Costumes should be in pristine condition for their debut performance. After which they may be
worn until the glitter has fallen off, the head piece is long gone, and holes are starting to magically
appear. I know it is tough to deny little ones their sparkly new costume, but I appreciate your
cooperation. Thank you.
Spotlight Dance Competition
The WMDC would like to wish the best of luck to its competitive dancers; Kaylea
Albright, Samantha Mitchell, and Arminda Yagi as they attend their first dance competition!
Notification of the specific date and time will not be announced until 5-7 days before - as this is the
normal timeframe for dance competitions to notify the companies in attendance of their
performance time. To give ample time for preparation (and travel), classes will be CANCELED on
Thursday (March 19th). Jazz and Contemporary are welcome to attend the Monday Jazz and
Wednesday Contemporary respectively. Thursday's Creative Movement will be rescheduled for
Tuesday 2:30-3:30. Thank you for your understanding. BREAK A LEG DANCERS!
Convention
March 7th is the deadline to confirm
attendance to the Dance Palooza convention in
Long Beach, CA. (I will be attending!!!!) If you
have any questions regarding the convention
please speak with me as soon as possible.
Performance
The facility request sheet for the Modoc
Middle School gymnasium has been turned in. I
have requested both the 19th and 20th of June.
While these dates are tentative until I receive
official word. I would like to state that the 19th
will be a MANDATORY dress rehearsal. I am
looking into a possible photographer for the
performance. The dress rehearsal is where team
photos and/or action shots will occur. I am also
considering a videographer. (Lots of
considerations, nothing set in stone.) If you know
of someone who would be interested in this
opportunity. Please pass their information on to
me. Thank you.
Spring Break
The WMDC will be CLOSED for
Spring Break (April 6th-10th). as I would
like to have the opportunity to visit family in
Oregon. However, I have decided to keep
the schedule that I used over Christmas
Break, and offer combined classes. The
schedule for Spring Break classes is as
follows;
Monday: Pre-ballet 2:30-3:30, Jazz 3:454:45, Ballet 5:00-6:00
Tuesday: Creative Movement 2:30-3:30,
Contemporary: 3:45-4:45, and Lyrical 5:006:00.
Please note: If a student is taking any Jazz
class at the WMDC they are welcome to
attend the Monday Jazz; however, the jazz
student is not cleared to attend the Monday
ballet class and vice versa. These classes are
designed to give the dancer an opportunity
to keep moving and maintain technique.
