Ginger Gondron will teach a mixture of classical ballet
styles. Students will work hard, have fun, learn that
dancing is a wonderful outlet, and that the human body an
amazing tool. Her teaching philosophy is that ballet
technique is the most important technique....any professional
dancer worth her salt has a strong ballet background.

Jazz
Tanya McCullor is an award-winning choreographer who
has taught throughout Southeast Texas. Ms. McCullor returns
to the Summer Dance Intensive with her unique style of jazz
that incorporates Fosse technique, and classic jazz with a
contemporary twist.
Modern
Golden Wright is an associate professor of dance at LU, where
he teaches ballet, modern, choreography, and dance theory.
His modern dance classes use a mixture of styles, including
release technique, Laban movement analysis, and Bartenieff

Contemporary
Travis Prokop recently completed a Master of Fine Arts in
dance from Sam Houston State University. Originally from New
Mexico, Mr. Prokop also has a BFA from West Texas A&M

At Lamar University’s Summer Dance Intensive, hosted by the
Department of Theatre and Dance, students study ballet,
modern, jazz, and contemporary with a stellar lineup of
professional dancers.
Participants choose either a full or half day of classes held in
LU’s Health and Human Performance Complex A & B (HHPA
208 and HHPB Dance Annex 100) dance studios. Our studios
are fully equipped with ballet barres, mirrors, and state-ofthe-art sprung-wooden floors covered in dance flooring.
Check-in/late registration on Monday, July 13, will be held in
HHPB Dance Annex 100 at 8 a.m.
We have two Summer Dance Intensive sessions based on age. The
junior intensive is for students who have completed 3rd - 7th
grade. The senior intensive is those who have completed 8 th
grade+ and adult students.
Classes begin at 8:15 a.m. and end at 4:45 p.m. Students may
arrive at 8 a.m. All non-residential students must be picked up
by 5 p.m.

cash ($7) to eat in the LU Dining Hall, or a sack lunch to eat in
