Aims

We are committed to developing a modern world-class curriculum that inspires and challenges all learners, and prepares them for life and work in the 21 st and skills.

century , having a balance of knowledge

The curriculum should enable all young people to become:

successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve

confident individuals who are able to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives

responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society

The curriculum is driven by the needs of our learners and therefore has ‘moral purpose’. There is a good balance between academic and vocational subjects and clear progression routes.

The Timetable

Each learner has 4 lessons per day. Each lesson is 1hour 25 minutes long. We believe that longer lessons allow for deeper learning. Another benefit is less changeover time between lessons.

KEY STAGE 3 (Years 7 & 8)

Rationale

The KS3 curriculum offers learners a broad and balanced range of subjects. There is an emphasis on English, Maths and Science to enable learners to improve rapidly in those areas. Practical learning is covered in Art and Design and in Performing Arts.
