UNDERGRADUATE HONORS PROGRAM
APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
We encourage all eligible students to apply to the Undergraduate Honors Program. You are eligible if you are:
 a currently enrolled KSU student with an adjusted grade-point average of 3.25 or higher in at least 15, but no
more than 45 semester hours of college credit earned at KSU, or
 a transfer student currently enrolled at KSU with an adjusted grade point average of 3.25 or higher in at least 15,
but no more than 45 semester hours of college credit earned, or
 a first-time, first-year student who has met or exceeded the requirements for full admission to KSU and has
BOTH (a) a high-school grade-point average of 3.5 or greater in academic subjects, as recalculated by the KSU
Office of Admissions, AND (b) a composite SAT score of 1150 or higher on the Critical Reading and Math
portions of the SAT (obtained by adding the reading and math scores), or an equivalent composite score of 25 or
higher on the ACT (obtained by averaging the scaled scores for the four multiple-choice test sections).
The Undergraduate Honors Program has rolling admissions, so students may apply at any time of year. To apply,
completely and accurately fill out the two-page application form and email it along with your essay to
honors@kennesaw.edu. Those who meet the eligibility requirements outlined above and submit a strong essay that
follows the guidelines in the application will, in most cases, receive a confirmation of acceptance within five days.

Essay
The essay portion of the application is very important to us too because it gives us a sample of your writing and helps us
get to know you better. Please choose from one of the following prompts, keeping in mind that whichever one you

choose, we want to learn important things about you as a person. Your essay of at least 2 full pages should be specific
and detailed. We don’t want to read a lot of generalities. We want to get a sense of a very specific person with specific
characteristics, experiences, thoughts, and goals. The essay should be typed and double-spaced using the Times New
Roman font and 12-point type.

Do you have a passion for a particular subject, cause, form of artistic expression, or something similar? How did
your interest form? How has it affected your life so far? What role will it play in your college career? How do
you see it affecting the rest of your life?
2. Give a detailed account of an experience that has helped to define who you are. Your story should make clear
what happened, why it had such an impact on you, and what kind of person you have become as a result.
3. Tell us about someone whose work you admire. What do you admire about it? Why? What kind of influence has
this person had on you? How do you expect his or her example to affect the course of your own life?
Extra-Curricular Activities (attach an additional sheet if necessary)
Please list those non-classroom activities in which you have participated within the past four years. List
involvement in school-related activities such as clubs and sports as well as non-school activities such as
community organizations and work-related activities. List any positions of leadership.
