Quorum was made with five council members present. Kenneth Martin was absent from the meeting.
New Business:
A special meeting was called by Mayor Wayne Labbe to discuss a donation to Crimestoppers. Sgt. John
Hatfield addressed the council expressing appreciation for allowing Crimestoppers to have their
fundraising fish fry during the Independence Day Celebration as well as Art in the Park.
Sgt. Hatfield explained how the program worked and stated that since 2008 Crimestoppers has spent
$13,390 assisting to solve crime in Dallas County with $5,970 being spent assisting to solve crime in
Valley Grande.
Sgt. Hatfield explained that Crimestoppers is funded by donations and requested the council consider a
donation to support Crimestoppers.
Jane Craig asked the balance of the donation budget. Mayor Labbe explained that we have not had a
response from the Attorney General regarding the donation to Sav-A-Life. Therefore, there is a balance
of $5,000 in the miscellaneous donation budget.
A motion was made by Jane Craig to donate $5,000 to the Crimestoppers program. Tim White made the
second. Motion carried with unanimous consent of the council members present by a show of hands
vote.

There being no further business to come before the council, motion was made by Donna Downs to
adjourn and the motion was seconded by Jane Craig. The motion was carried by unanimous consent of
the council.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:17 PM.
