Seeking F/T Peer Navigator
A Peer Navigator is a person who has personal experience successfully navigating in our behavioral
health, juvenile justice, and/ or child welfare systems. Peer Navigators promote the belief among the
families we serve that recovery is possible. As a Peer Navigator you will assist families in navigating the
various child-serving systems, connect them with appropriate resources, support clients in achieving
personal goals, and facilitate the development of recovery skills. It is expected that you provide
consistent unconditional support, encouragement and hope to the families and clients we serve.
All positions at AYFN may have responsibilities altered during the course of employment due to agency
imperatives.
Requirements:
 Be a current/former recipient of treatment/services OR a current/former caregiver of a
recipient*
 18 years of age or older
 Minimum of two years of college or combination of education and experience directly related to
position being applied for
 Be comfortable sharing your experiences with others (including co-workers, clients, etc.)
 Reliable transportation
 Pass a full background check and a TB Test
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:




Knowledge of childhood development
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient at using computer software
Desire to help and support parents, youth and children who have emotional and behavioral
issues
 Have personal experience and knowledge of recovery
 Have knowledge of community resources
* This includes but is not limited to behavioral/ mental health services, co-occurring substance abuse
treatment, department of juvenile justice, foster care, and/or residential treatment.
