Bibb County Board of Education met in a Called Board meeting on September 17, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. in the Central Office.
The Invocation was given by Mrs. Jones followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mr. McMillan.
Roll Call was conducted by Board President, Mr. Moody:

Mr. McMillan made a motion to approve the agenda. Mrs. Jones seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion to approve Bus Debt Refinance – Resolution Authorizing Series 2013 B Warrants.
Mrs. Jones seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mrs. Jones made a motion to approve Minutes from September 3, 2013 Board meeting. Mr. McMillan seconded the
motion which passed unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion to go into Executive Session: Student. Mrs. Jones seconded the motion which passed
unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion to return to Regular Session. Mrs. Jones seconded the motion which passed
unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion that student C.T. be expelled for the remainder of this school year. Mrs. Jones
seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion that student A.S. be expelled for the remainder of this school year. Mrs. Jones
seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
A revised School Nurse salary schedule was received. Mrs. Butts presented information about the revisions.
Mrs. Jones made a motion to accept and approve the resignation of Branton Hudson, as Computer/Network
Technician. Effective, October 31, 2013. Mr. McMillan seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion to accept and approve the resignation of Joshua Mims, Maintenance Worker,
effective September 6, 2013. Mrs. Jones seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mrs. Jones made a motion to accept the resignation of Shelley Smitherman as Assistant Varsity Softball Coach,
West Blocton High School, effective immediately. Mr. McMillan seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion to employ Fred Hardin as District School Bus Driver Trainer. Mrs. Jones seconded
the motion which passed unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion to employ Kenny Lowery as Assistant Softball Coach, Bibb County High. Mrs. Jones
seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mrs. Jones made a motion to employ Amy Hatter as Assistant Volleyball Coach, Bibb County High. Mr. McMillan
seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion to employ Kenneth Abel as Assistant Football Coach, Centreville Middle School.
Mrs. Jones seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mrs. Jones made a motion to employ high school students Megan Nelson and Jeffrey Smitty as Pre School Teacher
aides. Students will not have unsupervised time with children. Mr. McMillan seconded the motion which passed
unanimously.
Mrs. Jones made a motion to employ Eva Byrd-Goldsmith, Joan Jennings and Evelyn Tannehill as grad exam tutors
for Bibb County High and West Blocton High Schools at a rate of $25 per hour to be paid from FY13 ASAP funds beginning
September 18, 2013 and ending September 30, 2013. Mr. McMillan seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion for the approval of contractual services with Katelyn Buzbee, Interpreter for the
Hearing Impaired and for Amy Elmore, Instructional Teacher, to fulfill compensatory requirements. Payment of $45.00
each per hour plus mileage will be paid through IDEA funds. Mrs. Jones seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mrs. Jones made a motion to employ the following Woodstock Afterschool Program staff:
Karmen Deerman- Program Director
Amanda Shuttlesworth – Program Manager
Amy Dunnavant, Emily Rooker, Sheryl Morris, Jennifer Fredrick – Program Teachers
Mr. McMillan seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion to approve the Superintendent to hire a substitute bookkeeper for the Central Office
for up to 20 days. Mrs. Jones seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion to approve a field trip for WES 2 nd grade to travel to Pine Mountain, Georgia to visit
Callaway Gardens and the Wild Animal Safari. Approximately 62 students plus teachers will travel by charter bus
departing on April 18, 2014 and returning at 6:00 p.m. same day. Mrs. Jones seconded the motion which passed
unanimously.
Mrs. Jones made a motion to approve a field trip for Randolph Elementary students to travel to Dauphin Island, AL
on March 3, 2014, to visit the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Estuarium and Fort Gains. Approximately 110 students and
chaperones will travel by charter bus, departing at 5:00 a.m. and returning 8:00 p.m. same day. Mr. McMillan seconded the
motion which passed unanimously.
Mrs. Jones made a motion to approve Brenda Kornegay, Louise Steele, Eva Goldsmith as substitutes for the Bibb
County School System. Background requirements met. Mr. McMillan seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Mr. McMillan made a motion to approve the Substitute Bookkeeper Salary Schedule, received September 3, 2013
Board meeting. Mrs. Jones seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Next Board meeting, October 1, 2013, 5:00 p.m.
A Board work session was scheduled for 4:00 p.m. prior to the 5:00 p.m. meeting.
