Bilingual Instructional Aide
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This employee’s main responsibility will be to assist bilingual students in the use of the Blanco County South
Library District’s resources and supporting the Blanco Community English Classes by documenting use of
library resources and materials, assemble packets and materials and assist instructors during classroom
instruction. This includes, but is not limited to, operates all computers, printers, and software applicable to the
library/media center, use of Internet, and electronic catalog circulation program, and Microsoft Office, assisting
students and other library patrons to access the Library’s online catalog, using computers, conduct research
using online databases, using e-materials, applying for jobs. Other responsibilities may include performing a
variety of clerical duties, including processing and maintaining library media; entering records and files;
maintaining schedules for use of computers; help patrons locate books and related reference materials; assist
staff, patrons and students to locate and check out books and materials, and other duties assigned by Library
Director.
DUTIES:
Hours: Monday-Saturday (20 hours per week as assigned) with a maximum of two Saturdays a month.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or higher education
2. Must be at least 21 years old
3. Ability to read, write, and speak in English and Spanish fluently. Ability to read and interpret
documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before
small groups.
4. One to five years of training or experience in tutoring
5. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
6. Able to lift 40 pounds.

7. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, kneel,
crouch, stoop, reach, twist, and lift 40 pounds.
