Appendix 3. Reference list to the sources of phylogenetic information.
We used a supertree built from the available phylogenetic information; formal genera and
subgenera were adopted as nodes even in the absence of phylogenetic support. The sources
were: Hesperiidae – Warren et al. (2009); Papilionidae – Aubert et al. (1999), Caterino et al.
(2001); Pieridae –Hesselbarth et al. (1995), Pollock et al. (1998), Brunton (1998), Braby et al.
(2006), Back et al. (2011); Lycaenidae – Eliot (1973), Fric et al. (2007), Kandul et al. (2004),
Pech et al. (2004), Talavera et al. (2013), Vila et al. (2010); and Nymphalidae – Albre et al.
(2008), Aubert et al. (1996), Martin et al. (2000; 2002), Kodandaramaiah & Wahlberg (2009),
Leneveu et al. (2009), Nylin et al. (2001), Nylin & Wahlberg (2008), Pena et al. (2011),
Simonsen et al. (2006; 2010), Wahlberg (2001), Wahlberg & Nylin (2003), Wahlberg et al.
(2005; 2003; 2009). Dennis et al. (2000), Dinca et al. (2011), Heikkilä et al. (2012) and
Wahlberg et al. (2013) were adopted for the higher level taxonomy.
