DOYLE FAMILY EARLY TREE James Doyle Married to Mary Donlevy Son: Owen Doyle born in Roscommon DOB: 1825, Death: 2-20-1887 Married to Julia O’Rourke born in Galway DOB: 1833, Death: 1891 Both Owen and Julia were the first Doyles to live in the USA They both lived and died in Columbus, Ohio where other family members still live, but both were born in Ireland. They had several children o James ** o Patrick o Mary Ellen (McRedmond) o Christopher o Meary o Lawrence **We originally thought James (son of Owen and Julia) was born in 1850 in Ireland and their second son, Patrick, was born in 1853 in Columbus, Ohio, so we always assumed that they had immigrated between 1850 and 1853 to escape the Potato Famine. However, other documents suggest that James was born 1852 and Patrick in 1855, which would mean that James was probably born in the USA as well. We have the entire family tree constructed on this side of the pond. This is my husband’s side of the family and my husband’s uncle, Pat, had started the search many years ago. I worked with him to reconstruct the family tree for 14 years until he died. It was always his wish that we find surviving Irish relatives in Ireland and then the whole family would take a trip to visit them. So that is what I am still working on. Prior to a few weeks ago, we could never find the location of origin in Ireland for either Owen or Julia, could not find any port of origin via shipping records, and didn’t know Owen’s parents. I was finally able to locate his parent’s names and Owen and Julia’s birth counties, so that finally gave us someplace to start searching in Ireland. Since the Doyles were laborers in the USA, I assume that they were at similar levels in Ireland, so we aren’t looking for royalty! Submitted by Kellie Doyle Culpeper, Virginia
