SIPPS Webinar
There is a SIPPS webinar scheduled for October 15th from 2:30-3:30. In this
webinar we will be discussing: New Tech Features, What’s Working,
Questions/Concerns. Please try to have at least one representative participate
from your school. Teams of teachers are welcome to listen on one computer
together. We will record the session for teachers that are at Plus 1 schools or
cannot attend. A link to the recording will be on the Reading, Writing, Language
Arts Elementary intranet site.

SIPPS (Part 1) Training
Additional SIPPS (Part 1) training is scheduled for Thursday, October 21 from
8:30am-3:30pm at Hurst in the Multi-Purpose Room. Please register on MyPGS.

Spelling Bee Deadline Reminder:
In order to participate in the Volusia County Spelling Bee (grades 4th – 8th)
and be eligible to advance to the Orlando Sentinel spelling bee, your school must
register with Scripps National Spelling Bee by the October 15th deadline.
Please let Renee Hall know if your school will be participating or not. Also,
please email Renee Hall the spelling bee contact’s name for future
correspondence. *The registration fee of $130 is the responsibility of any school
that wishes to participate. If you have any questions please contact Renee Hall
at extension 20572 or Amy Cervantes at extension 20570. For registration

Just Read, FL! Celebrate Literacy Week
Just Read, FL! Celebrate Literacy Week is scheduled for January 26-30, 2015.
The PSA contest information is included in the links below. Please consider
participating in this state competition. The curriculum office will collect schools’
plans as the celebration week approaches. Thank you in advance for your
school’s participation.

Social Studies Fair for 4th Grade Teachers
Below are the documents needed to get you started with the 2014-15
Social Studies Fair. Please follow the steps below:
o Teacher request copies by sending the request form via email to Donna
Berrong.
o Donna will submit the electronic document to copy center with the # of
copies with the teacher’s name and location that requested them.
o The fair guides will be delivered to the teacher indicated!

Harvest of the Moon – Register by November 1!
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Farm to School
Program is excited to announce a new educational program—Harvest of the
Month—pilot that incorporates in-season Florida fruits and vegetables into
elementary school classrooms and gardens. Educators are invited to register and
receive a classroom set of materials featuring a different fresh fruit or vegetable
for each month starting this upcoming January and ending this upcoming May.
