Go over Drama Club and year’s plays, schedule, and community opportunities when possible. Day 2 – Name Game – first exercise Finish Power Point Presentation if needed Day 3 – Begin first plays reading – one-act plays. Synopsis due Monday, Day 6. Day 4 – Begin Acting 101 discussion, do’s and don’ts Day 5 – Improvisation Friday. Begin with warm-ups and go over basic improvisation rules. Try ‘Bench’ or equivalent introductory game. Week TwoDay 6-Vocabulary #1 handout and discuss. Begin hearing each student tell about their play – major characters, plot, climax, and ending. Day 7 – Continue with play synopses from students. Go over acting rules concerning rehearsal space and staying on task with me observing as I go from group to group, side coaching possible. Day 8 – Review for puzzle and allow for rehearsal of scenes. Day 9 – Vocabulary #1 puzzle, begin unit on Egyptian, Greek, and Roman Theatre. Day 10 – Improvisation Friday. Begin with warm-ups and repeat ‘Bench’ or equivalent ‘easy’ game. Week Three – Day 11 – Work on scenes and then begin watching them one by one with critique following each performance. Day 12 – Continue watching scenes with critique following each performance. After, allow them time to work on scenes using critiques to improve their work. Continue unit on Egyptian, Greek, and Roman Theatre. Day 13 – Continue working on scenes and then review for test. Day 14 - Vocabulary #1 test and continue unit on Egyptian, Greek, and Roman Theatre. Day 15 – Improvisation Friday. Begin with warm-ups and go over basic improvisation rules. Finish unit on Egyptian, Greek, and Roman Theatre. Day 23 – Review for test which contains Vocabulary #2 and Egyptian, Greek, and Roman Theatre. Day 24 - Vocabulary #2/Egyptian, Greek, and Roman Theatre test. Day 25 – Improvisation Friday. Begin with warm-ups and go over basic improvisation rules. Week Six – Day 26 - Vocabulary #3 handout and begin Medieval/Shakespeare/Elizabethan Unit. Day 27 – Continue Medieval/Shakespeare/Elizabethan Unit. This is the end of the first nine weeks so the participation grade will be entered at the end of the school day.
