FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 4, 2015 Barrett Stork named Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs for Cox Communications Virginia Chesapeake, Va. – Cox Communications Virginia recently appointed Barrett Stork as director of Government and Regulatory Affairs. In this newly created role, Stork will serve as a partner to local governments, state departments, agencies and the Virginia General Assembly and to the Federal government. He will be responsible for public policy and franchises as well as the Connect2Compete low income broadband adoption program in Virginia. Through this program, Cox offers discounted high speed internet service to low-income families with children who qualify for the National School Lunch Program. Prior to joining Cox in 2011, Stork served as the director of Government Affairs for the Hampton Roads Realtors Association and was formerly a legislative aide in the Virginia General Assembly. Stork also spent three years as a United States Peace Corps volunteer working on economic development in Romania. “Barrett is a tremendously talented relationship builder who helps Cox partner with local, State and Federal governments in order to achieve win-win solutions,” said Kathryn Falk, vice president of Public & Government Affairs and Northern Virginia Operations. “He has consistently delivered positive results for our organization and his skills uniquely position him for this statewide leadership role.” A native of San Diego, Calif., Stork earned his undergraduate degree from San Diego State University. He is also a graduate of the University of Virginia’s Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership, LEAD Hampton Roads and LEAD Virginia Peninsula. He serves on the Boards of the Virginia Telecommunications Industry Association, Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, Hampton Roads Chamber Business PAC and the Virginia Cable Political Action Committee.
