Beautification
*Use allotted budget and donations to provide seasonal esthetic improvement and/or
decor to front entry of school and/or other areas of school as requested by school.
Blayton Liaison
*Communicate activities of Blayton to Hornsby and Hornsby to Blayton to insure no
scheduling conflicts.
*Reports to be submitted at PTSA meetings either in person or emailed to President
Boxtop Collections
*Collect/Organize Boxtops & receipts for existing donation programs.
*Research opportunities for additional programs offered in the community
*Organize reward program (pizza party, class treat etc)
Coffee Cart
*Use allotted budget and/or donations to provide Coffee to teachers & staff once a
month to coincide with PTSA meetings when possible
Dances
*Responsible for writing a plan of action and overseeing the implementation of the
Purple and Gold Dance (held in the fall) and
*organize food, raffles, and games.
*sub-committees to be formed as needed
Hawk Hike
*Yearly PTSA fundraiser (usually held in November) to bring awareness of health &
fitness to assist student body.
*Plan of action to be presented to PTSA
*Provide weekly status updates in the four weeks prior to the event
*Provide a Recap at the completion of event.
Hawk Eye Helpers
*Organize a group of parent volunteers to assist teachers with class related activities.
ie: making copies, putting together bulletin boards, recording books etc. and any other
projects teachers may need assistance.
Honor Roll
*Organize & plan events to celebrate Honor Roll Students. End of 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Marking Periods. ie: ice cream treat at lunch, movie night etc.
*Recap of each event will be expected at PTSA meetings
Hospitality
*Hospitality responsibilities include but not limited to coordinating food/refreshments for PTSA
meetings, organizing quarterly teacher lunches (to coordinate with teacher workday schedule) & plan
holiday/mailbox treats for teachers:
Sept: Orientation or Open House Staff Lunch
1st General Membership PTSA meeting refreshments
Nov: Hawk Hike Pep Rally/PTSA meeting refreshments
Jan: Staff Lunch (in past chili meal)
Occasion for the Arts/PTSA meeting refreshments
Mar: PTSA meeting/ Volunteer Recognition refreshments
Apr: Staff Lunch
May: PTSA meeting/Officers vote refreshments
*Plan of work proposed to include the above events and can be changed as needed
Legislation
*Assist in keeping Hornsby PTSA abreast of National & Local PTA Legislation
*Organize Legislative votes when applicable.
Membership
*Write a Plan of action for Membership budget.
*Responsible for organizing membership sign up table for opening year events (6th
grade orientation, open house)
*Communicate with returning member regarding membership renewals, maintain
updated membership database, organize membership appreciation throughout the
school year ie: raffles, give-aways, etc.
*Responsible for forming any sub-committees to assist in these responsibilities as sees
fit.
Mini Grants
*Collect applications, review applications to insure request meets all criteria, present suggestion to
PTSA board for vote approval.
*Present finale selections to the PTSA
Publicity
* Post photos from events to website.
* Provide News Stories to online Newslettter.
* Work with Webmaster to ensure webpage is up to date.
* Make sure that information posted on the website is correct and that members’ and
leaders’ privacy is protected.
*Update Facebook with applicable information
Reflections
*Advertise Reflections Theme
*Recruit judges for each category / organize submissions and judging.
*Report results to PTSA.
*Assist in recognition ceremony at PTSA meeting.
Spirit Wear
*Organize Spirit Wear sales.
*Distribute Spirit Wear to students’ homerooms.
*Maintain Spirit Wear inventory.
*Utilize website & flyer distribution to advertise Spirit Wear.
* Work with in allotted Spirit Wear budget
Spirit Nights
*Contact Companies & organize spirit nights in the community to bring support to the
PTSA and Hornsby Middle School
*Submit WJCC Fundraising Form and any publicity information i.e. flyers to President
for approval from Principal and School Treasurer prior to distribution
Spring Fling
*Work with Executive Committee to define.
*Work within allotted budget
Sweet Talk
Organize a quarterly meeting for all PTSA student members in the past were held
during the lunch periods. Meeting should include a “Sweet Treat” for all members that
attend and participate in question and answer session
Teacher/Staff Appreciation
Use allotted funds and donations to provide a week-long celebration to honor our Hornsby teachers
and staff during teacher appreciation week (approx. first week of May)

Responsibilities include but not limited to soliciting donations from local businesses and Hornsby
families, planning and organizing something special for each day Monday – Friday during Teacher
Appreciation week recruit volunteers to assist with these responsibilities. Outline for the week should
be submitted to PTSA at March meeting.

Oct: Halloween Staff mailbox treat
Dec: Xmas/winter mailbox treat

Website
*Keep Hornsby PTSA website updated with all PTSA information
* Work with Publicity chair to publish stories regarding the PTSA
events and activities to the web site.
WISC Fun Night
Coordinate with the WISC to schedule discounted rate to utilize the facilities for a fun
night for all middle school students
Create flyers for the event and advertise in advance
Event in the past has occurred in March
WJCC PTAC Representative
Attend monthly PTAC meetings and pass information during HMS PTSA meetings
8th Grade Dance
To be held in late spring / work with 8th grade parents and teachers to coordinate
dance, food, games and raffles. Date to be dictated by school administration
6th Grade Teacher Rep
*Represent 6th grade teaching staff at PTSA meetings.
*Contribute ideas & suggestions at meetings
*Report PTSA activity back to teaching staff at staff meetings
7th Grade Teacher Rep
*Represent 7th grade teaching staff at PTSA meetings.
*Contribute ideas & suggestions at meetings
*Report PTSA activity back to teaching staff at staff meetings
