Lancaster House is organising an ice-skating trip/shopping trip to Cribbs Causeway as part of its fund-raising
activities this year. The trip will firstly be open to Lancaster House members and to other Houses if places
are not filled, at a later date. Any excess monies from the trip will be donated to the House charity, Cancer
Research UK.
The trip is on Tuesday 8 December and will meet at 3:35 pm, leaving school at 3:40 pm to give students and
staff enough time to get changed. We will depart from SCAT lay-by at 3:40 pm and will travel to Cribbs
Causeway with Redwood Coaches where we will shop until 6:30 pm, followed by ice-skating from 7:00 pm.
The skating session finishes at 7:45 pm when we will leave Cribbs Causeway to return to Taunton. During
shopping time students may decide to buy something to eat or prefer to bring a packed tea. I cannot be
certain of an exact time of arrival back at school (SCAT lay-by), but if all parents could pick up their
son/daughter by 9.15 pm it would be much appreciated to save staff having to wait around at the end of
the day. If there is any change on the timings, we will ask students to contact parents en route.
All students will be expected to skate and will not be allowed to shop whilst others are skating. All students
will have to be in a group of 3 and no more than 6. Years 7 and 8 will be accompanied by a member of staff
during their shopping time. Students need to bring a thick pair of long socks and gloves for skating. The rink
is outside so they must ensure they have appropriate clothes to keep them warm and dry.
The price of the trip will be £10.50. As there are only 62 spaces available it will be first come first served
and a reserve list will be drawn up for those who failed to get on. If you are interested can you please fill in
the form below and pay either via the school’s online payment system or send in cash/cheque (made
payable to The Castle School) for £10.50 which includes transport, ice skating and the hire of ice skates.
Students will have to bring their own money if they wish to do some Christmas shopping. Please also
complete the enclosed EV5 medical form and return to the Finance Office with payments by Friday 27
November at the latest.
