ChemTracker Audit Criteria Chemical Use and Storage ⎕ ChemTracker Inventory has not been updated in past 12 months ⎕ ChemTracker Inventory is present, but does not accurately represent chemical inventory ChemTracker Audit Summary Message: A group of random chemicals in your inventory has been audited for accuracy in ChemTracker. X of 10 chemicals found in the area were listed in your ChemTracker Inventory. Chemicals present and listed in ChemTracker: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Chemicals present but NOT listed in ChemTracker: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Because of discrepancies like this, we ask that all groups conduct an annual physical inventory of chemicals in the space and update ChemTracker accordingly. ChemTracker is used by EH&S to report chemical quantities to various regulatory agencies such as Homeland Security and the City of Pittsburgh. It also lets EH&S know what hazards are present so that we can take measures to sufficiently protect worker safety. Therefore, an accurate chemical inventory in ChemTracker is essential. Please be reminded that entering chemicals into ChemTracker is also a requirement for those who purchase hazardous materials using a CMU P-card. Having an up-to-date ChemTracker inventory truly benefits everyone. When conducting a physical inventory, it is also a good time to remove chemicals that are old, expired or no longer used, and to include any new chemicals that may not have been entered when originally acquired. It is also a good time to review Particularly Hazardous Substances in the inventory, such as chloroform, cadmium compounds and cobalt compounds, to see if the PHS are still used and need to be kept in the lab (one easy way to reduce risk is to remove the unnecessary hazards).
