Protocols-BC Randall
o Time Line Update

We are still on our time line to be live on January 2.

BLS drugs will be exchanged on a 1:1 basis like ALS drugs are exchanged.

Discussed problems with exchanging narcotics if transporting to outlying hospitals
that use different boxes. BC Randall will research solutions.

BLS drug boxes will be on all transport units.

A program will be implemented for new providers that need to be released with
the new protocols.

Released providers that do not complete the new training by January 2 will have
up to 6 months to complete the program and regain released status. After 6
months they will need to begin the precept process again.

Protocol books are still in the process of being printed. It is anticipated that they
will be available before January 2.

SERVICE
KNOWLEDGE
EXPERIENCE
o Fauquier has been seeking accreditation as an accredited chest pain center, they have
been recommended after the recent site visit.
o The physicians met and discussed the new protocols so they will be aware when patients
come in under the new protocols.
o Encourage members that may have any questions or doubts about any of the protocol
changes to ask for help as needed. The ER staff will gladly help.

Old Business
o Drug box update-hand out

ALS and BLS drug boxes have been purchased through Rankins Hardware at a
discounted price for Fire & Rescue. Glen at Rankins has been assisting us with this
project.

Non-transport units can have boxes purchased by their companies. Order any
drugs needed from the pharmacy, they normally have a 2-3 day turn around.

Outlying agencies will be responsible for getting their own kits assembled. BC
Randall will provide information to these agencies so that they can complete the
purchase. Some logistics are still in the process of being solved.

Amanda Martin will keep an updated list of how many boxes each station has, it
will be updated quarterly. If you purchase any boxes please let her know. Her
email is emschick9@gmail.com
o OEMS signing regulations

OEMS has a new regulation for signing patient reports at the ER. Physician
signatures will no longer be required for invasive procedures that are covered as
standing orders in the protocols. Physician signatures will be required for online
medical control. More information will be emailed to the committee.

o The January EMS Committee meeting will be held at the SIM lab.
o If for some reason the protocol roll out will need to be delayed, stations will be contacted
as soon as possible.
o It was asked if the training department could loan out equipment. At this time they are
unable to do so.
o There was discussion on a response disposition of assisting other agency for when crews
are split. There will be new data elements coming from the Commonwealth next year
