Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, honored guests! It is a great honour to greet you on this occasion – signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between the Lithuanian Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology and Israeli Industry Center for R&D – the executive agency of the Office of the Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor. I’m confident that this agreement will promote the cooperation in industrial research and development and facilitate joint innovation activities and projects between our countries. I would like to emphasize as well that this agreement serves as another milestone and evidence of the very good bilateral economic relations between Israel and Lithuania. These relations have been marked by high level exchange visits and professional dialogues and consultations. The highlights of this year were the visits of Israeli Agricultural & Rural Development Minister Mrs. O.Noked and Minister of Energy & Water Resources Dr. U.Landau to Lithuania, the visit of Lithuanian Agricultural Minister Mr. K.Starkevičius to Israel during the international Agritech exhibition, as well as a recent visit of more than 100 Israeli experts, lecturers and businessmen to the first Life Sciences Baltics conference in Vilnius this September. Still I believe there is much to be done in the fields of economy and sciences, especially research & development, therefore I would like to express satisfaction regarding the fact that the 2nd Call for Proposals for joint R&D projects between Lithuanian and Israeli companies is being announced today. By this I would like to encourage both Lithuanian and Israeli companies to submit their joint proposals for this important call. We really hope to see good results of both this agreement and call of proposals. Finally I would like to use this opportunity and thank all the organizers of the event and wish both countries successful implementation of this important agreement by promoting new joint R&D projects, organizing mutual meetings, seminars and workshops and developing new contacts and exchange of expertise. I wish success to both countries and especially to Lithuania in successfully forming the new government!
