Working for our Product Services Director, this is a highly specialised internship in which you become an expert in our 3D products. This is predominantly about testing our software as a user not a programmer, so the focus is all about attention to detail, and absolute rigour of testing to ensure our products perform to maximum capability and with the end user at the forefront. We will offer appropriate technical training, with training in-house from our internal specialists, plus we will invest in external training and on-line study to bring you up to speed with essential programming language. This internship represents a gap in our current resource. With strong performance, this opportunity could carve out a new permanent role within the business Typical activities might include; Daily customer interaction with our on line user forum Ownership of end user support for Lightworks Technical post-sales support, to answer queries and identify requirements Usability testing at user interface level including the setting up and operation of 3rd party testing tools Creating, operating and maintaining automated regression test systems in Python Evaluating the results from test systems and presenting using 3rd party applications Liaison with our technical developers who have written the software Creation of images and 3D design to test out the applications Creation of sets of representative materials for use within the product Prototyping simple applications (probably using Python / Java) Prototyping web browser applications What type of person are we looking for? You will be a key part of the Lightworks team. We’re looking for someone with the ambition to craft their technical knowledge and expertise, and who can flex their style to collaborate with both the technical developers and our end users The successful candidate for this role will be: A graduate with one of the following degree disciplines; Science, Maths, Engineering, IT Strong in written English – essential for the on-line forum A computer user with an interest in computers (programming not essential but useful – we will provide training for technical skills) A bright and fast learner Able to communicate to our customers / end users in a non technical manner Fanatical about attention to detail and doing the right thing for the customer Interested in 3D design, our specific industry sector and products Enthusiastic and positive Hardworking, organised and able to multi-task A self-starter confident to ask questions, find solutions and make things happen on their own Deadline driven Resilient and tenacious Direct, straightforward and honest A team player, able to work with people across a range of teams and different skill sets Other skills, which would be an advantage and could help you to get this job; Experience of Google sketch-up (www.google.com/sketch-up) A track record of creating images and an interest in 3D design Interest in the CAD / rendering market What are all the practical details?
