APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE None. All Members present. 2. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST None declared. 3. COMMITTEE ACCOUNTS The meeting received and NOTED the Committee’s accounts (not reproduced). 4. DRAFT TERMS OF REFERENCE The meeting received draft Terms of Reference (not reproduced). The Clerk explained the rationale behind these. It was proposed, seconded and RESOLVED: That the draft Terms of Reference be RECOMMENDED to 9 March 2015 Council for adoption. 5. INAPPROPRIATE DECORATION OF GRAVES The meeting received a report (not reproduced) referring to the decoration of a specifc grave with items that could be considered by the Council to be inappropriate. It was proposed, seconded and RESOLVED: That the Clerk present to the next meeting of the Committee a draft for a suitably and sympathetically worded sign advising the need for restraint in decoration, which could then be produced on an attractive design (rather than a bland Notice) and positioned at the entrance to the Cemetery. COMMON MEMORIAL BASE The meeting received a report (not reproduced) and NOTED that the action required by the Committee in respect of the common base stone for memorials on two adjacent graves and notified to the relevant funeral director in a letter dated 14 November 2014, had NOT been complied with. It was proposed, seconded and RESOLVED: That a further letter be sent to the funeral director seeking compliance, and stating that if the work was not carried out to the Committee’s satisfaction within three months, then the Council reserved the right to have the corrective work undertaken and to invoice the funeral director for its costs. 7. PROVISION OF SALT BIN The meeting received a report (not reproduced). It was proposed, seconded and RESOLVED; That a 200 litre capacity lockable salt bin be ordered at an estimated costs of £99, together with a suitable quantity of salt, and that this be positioned at the side of the Church Hall. 8. GENERAL MATTERS 8.1 Footpath through Cemetery It was proposed, seconded and RESOLVED: That the footpath throughout the Cemetery be extended a further 15 metres (approximately) and that having regard to the other workload of the Council staff, that the work be undertaken and completed prior to the public holiday on 25 May 2015. 8.2 Condition of Cemetery and Churchyard Rev’d Father Terry thanked the Committee for the work undertaken to keep the Cemetery and Churchyard in a tidy condition and for the repair work undertaken to the ancient and collapsing grave in the Churchyard. In respect of the last matter, it was proposed, seconded and RESOLVED: That a letter be sent to Leake’s Masonry complimenting them on the work. The meeting closed at 11.40 am. Page 14/316
