You will be taking the empathetic responses you’ve written throughout this unit and incorporating them into a letter to Elie Wiesel. These letters will be sent to Dr. Wiesel through his foundation in New York City. Therefore, it is important you treat this with the utmost seriousness and diligence.
NOTE: Each student is responsible for bringing in two envelopes and two stamps so we can send the letters to Elie Wiesel. One must be self-addressed, for his response. See me if there are any issues obtaining these materials.
Guidelines:
1.
Students must use proper letter format as I outlined in class (guidelines are still available through my website).
2.
Each letter should contain: a.
An appropriate salutation. b.
Introductory paragraph that establishes purpose. c.
Two body paragraphs containing distinct ideas. d.
A concluding paragraph with final remarks. e.
An appropriate “sign off” with your signature.
3.
Purpose: The purpose of your letter is to express gratitude to Elie Wiesel for sharing his story and working for genocide awareness in the world today. a.
Be certain to include specific reasons for your thanks and refer to moments you felt a sincere effect from Night. b.
Although there is no quotation requirement, make sure you refer to the text in a clear manner.
