Class News
Fun Times Ahead
This is a month filled with wacky things
happening at Macedonia. This week
starts a fund raiser to hopefully send
Mrs. Castleberry to work on the roof on
Friday. Monday is Pennies for Paw Wear,
Tuesday is Nickles for Night-Night (wear
your pjs to school), Wednesday is Dimes
for Dynamic Sports (wear your favorite
sports team clothing), Thursday is
Quarters for Quirky Hair (one of my
favorites) and Friday is Dollars to
Displace Mrs. Castleberry to the Roof!
We have the Fall Festival coming up on
Saturday the 17th at 5:00 PM in the ball
field. Our Relay for Life fundraiser
dance, the Halloween Spooktacular
Dance will be in the gym on October 29th
beginning at 5:00 PM. More details
about all of these will be forthcoming as
the month progresses.
Of course, we’ll still have time for lots
of learning.
Reading, “Riting, and
“Rithmetic
Kindergarten
Reading: Letter of the Week: Letter Ss
Story of the Week: Armadillo’s Orange
Students will bring home Sock Sack and Tam and
Sam for reading at home. This week, we will talk
about settings or where the stories take place.
Language Arts: This week, our focus is on: Proper
Nouns, such as names of our friends.
Math: While we are continuing to work on counting,
numeral recognition, number value correlation, and
counting on from a numeral, this week, we begin
sorting into categories. We will being patterns this
week.

‘Rithmatic
This Week’s Links
1st Grade
Reading: We will be finishing the short
vowels with letter Ee. We will be
discussing cause and effect, which is
challenging. I prefer to ask, “What
happened because…. did such and
such?” That leads to the terms cause
and effect. Each child’s weekly story
will be based on his or her reading
level.
Language Arts: Our spelling words this
week are get, net, web, pen, red, pet,
fed, ten, beg, my, too, and like. We will
be working on proper nouns and how to
write them in sentences.

Math: As we continue to work on math
strategies, this week we will be using
number lines to add on. We are also
working on greater than, less than, and
equal to. Being able to quickly identify
value is important in greater than, less
than, and equal to.
