Allah has said clearly that the main purpose of mankind’s creation are firstly, as ’Abdullah which is duty to whorship to Allah sincerely (Q.S. 51:56) and without shirk (Q.S. 98:5), secondly, as Vicegerence (Khalifatullah fil Ard) (Q.S. 2:30) is the role of mankind to prosper ()عمارةاألرض, and manage the world under the guidance of Allah SWT. In order to realize these two purposes, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala give this world with all its contents to the mankind (Q.S. 6:165 dan Q.S. 31:20). Realizing prosperity and well being is embracing the issues on how to develop, manage and preserve the world as effort to support the duty of whorship to Allah (Q.S. 11:61). The starting point of this discourses is the human behavior in conducting the world (the wealth) to achieve al Falah. The notion of ”al Mal” also defined as ”desire” or ”tendency”. Desire or behavior of human to the wealth is the same central point in economic discourse as the science that studied human behavior as economic agent. Hence, in Islam human desire to the wealth should be always directed by Islamic principle from Al Quran and Al Sunnah. In Islamic studies the terminology or notion of ”economic” epistemologically and historically is unknown. The term was emerged around the 20th century when Baqir al-Sadr led to the term al Iqtisad. Indeed, the term ”al Mal” is the most often appear in the Qur'an, AlSunnah and classical scholars studies when associated to the issues of property and how the effort to get it. Base on this, studies related to the wealth (al Mal) and its impact to the practical issues (axiology) in economic subject or iqtishad’ s al Sadr is substancial. It is necessary to IRTI-IDB, UKM and Tazkia to carry out a rountable discussion on ”Al Mal: Philosophy and its Application in Islamic Perspective”. Original theoretical, empirical, and policy papers of high quality will be presented by researchers and other stakeholders in the area of Islamic economics and finance to the rountable addressing the following themes. o Critical Analysis of al Mal concept from the Qur’anic perspective; o Critical Analysis of al Mal concept from the Sunnatic perspective; o The practice of al Mal during sahabah time; o The practice of al Mal in the Islamic history (jurists); o Comparative studies the theory of al Mal and Wealth from philoshopical & epistemological perspective; o The concept of al Mal & its relation to the modern practice of economic and finance; o Critical analysis the term of al Mal & al Iqtisad from epistemological perspective; o Other related topics on al Mal. 2|P a g e Important Dates: Submission of Full Paper: 31 Oktober 2014 Final Decision on Paper: 7 November 2014 Workshop: 8 – 10 December 2014 Ticket & Hotel: Authors of the accepted papers will be covered for round-trip economy class air ticket and hotel accommodation during the workshop Proceeding/Publication This Workshop in intended as a meeting of minds among thinkers, scholars and practitioners (maximum 40 persons).
