THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY ALUMNI CLUB OF SHELBY COUNTY November 16, 2015 Dear Guidance Counselors, Eight students at The Ohio State University earned a total of more than $12,000 from 2014-2015 scholarships offered by the OSU Alumni Club of Shelby County. The club is offering four (4) different scholarships for the 2014-2015 high school seniors living in Shelby County, who plan to attend The Ohio State University. In 1992, the Ralph J. Stolle Academic Scholarship to The Ohio State University was awarded for the first time. This 4-year, partial-tuition stipend will be awarded again in 2015. The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Shelby County is pleased to offer “The Emerson Climate Technologies/Copeland Scholarship,” which was established in 2006 with a generous gift from Emerson Climate Technologies. The Elaine Laughlin Buckeye Scholarship is named to forever recognize Elaine’s untiring support of our Buckeye youth. The Shelby County Alumni Scholarship Fund endowment was established in 1998. Commitment of local life members and fund raising activities made this possible. Requirements: Be admitted to the university. Preferably ranked in the top 10% of their high school class if they will be awarded an OSU funded scholarship. Be recommended by school principals, counselors, and/or teachers based on scholastic ability and character. Have a record of performance in activities both in school and in the community. Impress the Scholarship Committee with a sound interest and positive attitude toward college work. To be considered for these scholarships, prospective students should complete Part I of the Alumni Scholars Program Application, and then have their principal, counselor, or teacher complete Part II, which will recommend you for the scholarship. It is required that this person attach a copy of the student’s transcript to the application. Students must also complete an Undergraduate Admission Application in order to be considered for this scholarship. The application can be found on The Ohio State University website. Apply online at https://www.applyweb.com/apply/osu. If students wish to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), it is available on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Award posting from the Office of Student Financial Aid will be visible to the recipient’s account beginning in late March to the student’s OSU.edu account. Recipient of an alumni scholarship award will be listed in the name of the Alumni Club. There are occasions when the recipient is not determined until summer. In order to keep a scholarship, a student must maintain full-time enrollment for each semester he/she receives the award. All applications with transcripts are required to be printed and mailed to the below P.O. Box address. Emailed or hand-delivered applications will not be accepted. Completed application forms must be postmarked by 1/15/2016 and MAILED ONLY to the address listed on the lower portion of the scholarship application.
