Alison Moore ACEI 5.2 Collaboration with families, colleagues, and community agencies Throughout the semester I have had the opportunity to collaborate with my peers, my professors, and current classroom teachers. Through these collaboration efforts I have been able to reflect on my teaching as well as gain insight from my peers, professors, and classroom teachers. By collaborating with others I am able to get new ideas and think of things in a different way. It is always good when I am challenged on how or why I did something in my lesson. Students in our enrichment group were able to benefit from my collaboration with my partner because we both had different ideas that ended up working great together. My partner is more interested in English and Social Studies and I enjoy Math and Science so I feel that by working together we were able to bring different aspects when writing lessons together. Also, through talking to our professors we were able to gain information on various Fairy Tales we could use for our lessons such as variations of The Three Little Pigs. In the future I think I would benefit from having more one on one collaboration instead of doing the majority over e-mail. I think that when you collaborate in person both people benefit a lot more. However, with our busy schedules this semester e-mail was the best way for us to communicate and share ideas. I hope that in the future I can have a set time to collaborate with one or two people whether it is in person or over the phone. I feel that by having a set time it will be something I not only look forward to but also benefit greatly from. I feel that next semester while I am student teaching it will benefit me to have someone to bounce ideas off of and gain input from. Alison Moore FIRST EXAMPLE OF COLLABORATION: Mrs. Johnson Director, Loving care Central Elementary Pike Township November 11, 2011 We would like to thank you for allowing us to work with Zion, Senea, Najla and Jamal for our second enrichment project. In the last four sessions we have been busy exploring earthquakes and volcanoes! On the first day the student’s could barely describe what an earthquake or volcano is, but by the last day they had a wide vocabulary and could not only correctly say the sequence of events but also answer the question why earthquakes occur and they could describe every aspect of a volcano! Jamal is one of the most creative kids we have ever worked with. His responses and comments to predictions or other subjects are just phenomenal! He is energetic and always so positive. He really enjoyed working with earthquakes and volcanoes because he wants to be a meteorologist some day! Zion is quieter but he is filled with great ideas. On the first day he had so many great questions about earthquakes and he wanted to do more research about them on his own time. He also showed a lot of progress through the session especially when we were working with volcanoes. When we introduced volcanoes he had very little knowledge to the parts, types, and events. By the end he impressed us and definitely showed off everything he had learned! Senea had some trouble focusing this session but she really liked learning about earthquakes. On the second day of enrichment we made a city out of different materials. Once the city was made we shook the table and the poster underneath as a simulation for what occurs during an earthquake. When building the city Senea did a great job of using her background knowledge of what types of buildings last during earthquakes and what will be the first to fall down! Najla had some trouble concentrating this session but she was also able to show us how much she learned by the end. She drew an amazing drawing of an earthquake and volcano and what happens during the process. We were very impressed with her ability to draw and portray everything she had learned! Overall this enrichment project has been a great experience. The students learned something, we learned something, and we had fun exploring these different topics together! We want to thank you again for allowing this to happen! Alison Moore & Alison Ledbetter Alison Moore SECOND EXAMPLE OF COLLABORATION: Will be up loaded when it is received from Miss Anderson. It is from my math and lit lesson.
