Monday (23) LT -3: I can determine the relative ages of rocks and fossils by using correlation and index fossils found in the rock layers. Students will Copy LT 2 in their journals. Students will write Big Ideas after reviewing Getting Into the Fossil Record. Take a quiz over homework assignment, “Investigation 18B”. Copy LT 3 in their journals. Students will pre assess the target Students will work independently and then discuss their thinking with an elbow partner after looking at rock outcrops. Students will be trying to find layers that could be the same age based on patterns in the location, rock type, and rock grain size. Tuesday (24) LT -3: I can determine the relative ages of rocks and fossils by using correlation and index fossils found in the rock layers. Students will take a formative quiz over LT 1 Students will work independently and then discuss their thinking with an elbow partner after looking at rock outcrops. Students will be trying to find layers that could be the same age based on patterns in the location, rock type, and rock grain size. Today students will also use index fossils to help them determine the relative age of rocks. Formative Assessment: Students will complete a practice page after doing guided practice for the beginning of class.
