Faculty of Natural Sciences
Faculty of Natural Sciences has an outstanding legacy of producing leaders in
academia, medicines and health, engineering, government and non-government
organizations and leaders in local communities. It is the student-centered faculty with
healthy mix of undergraduate and graduate students and post-doctoral researchers.
The faculty is highly committed; they go well beyond the traditional methods of
teaching in order to deliver an integrated and holistic educational experience at both
the undergraduate and graduate levels. They blend theory and practice with a genuine
concern for the learning and success of their students. It is an exceptional group of
scientists who are involved not only in high class research, but are also deeply
dedicated to undergraduate education. This is reflected in their creative teaching
methods, mentoring and devotion to undergraduate research. LCWU is committed to
helping students gain excellent training that includes a strong foundation in the
sciences and the freedom to shape their own professional paths.
Faculty of Natural Sciences offers degree programs in various disciplines including;
Botany, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Zoology, Biotechnology,
Environmental Science and Pharmacy. The curriculum and courses in every discipline
are regularly updated which fosters wider perspectives and maintains the competitive
edge required for the next generation of leaders by bringing together a diversity of
experience and interests. The faculty and students perform research on a range of
scientific problems of immediate relevance to the local, regional and global issues.
They are funded from a variety of sources including the Higher Education
Commission, Pakistan Science Foundation, Environmental Protection Department,
British Council, USAID, private industry and many others. In science, there are no
barriers and the Faculty of Natural Sciences has included in its educational objectives
enhancing interactions with diverse peers in order to stimulate the minds of students
to make their academic work more professional and creative.

The aim of this education will be to:
1) Train human resources particularly women in this advanced and challenging field
2) Develop skills which are definitely job oriented
3) Produce skills which can help in solving the problems.

The vision of the mathematics department is:

Mission
The Mission of Mathematics Department is:
 To focus on mathematics learning, teaching and research,
 To prepare students who think critically, have abilities to reason logically and provide
new solutions to the mathematical problems,
 To produce graduates who are able to contribute their innovative research ideas approach
to industry and in educational field.
This department teaches both undergraduate and graduate students with a wide range of
abilities and needs. Students at the masters level acquire a solid understanding of mathematics
and the ability to apply it effectively. Doctoral students acquire the experience necessary to do
original research in mathematics, as well as the versatility to connect mathematics with others
fields. In research, we extend the frontier of mathematical knowledge by producing quality
research with original results and by collaborating with other disciplines. Our research
mission complements our teaching mission because a strong research program is essential for
the development of future mathematicians.

Miss Imrana Kousar (completed her PhD from NUCES, Fast Lahore in 2011).
Five Faculty members registered for PhD and three registered for MS programmes in
2011.
11 students have completed BS (Hons) with CGPA more than 3 in 2011 and 16 students
Have completed BS (Hons) with CGPA more than 3 in 2012.
Three students have completed MS in 2011 with CGPA 3.91, 3.93 and 3.95.

Department of Physics
Vision
Physics is the basic subject of natural sciences. Our vision is to educate our students in basic
Physics and the new branches of Physics like Renewable Energies, Nanotechnology, Space
Science, Medical Physics, Cosmology and Laser Technology.
Mission
Physics Department is contributing towards the professional development and capacity
building of female population of the society. The aim to produce good and able researchers
we have started four year BS and two year MS programs. We are also offering PhD program
to groom our intelligent and hardworking students.

Mission
The overarching aim of graduate and post graduate degree programs in Zoology is to train and
to prepare scholars who are capable of productive careers in animal biology in teaching and
research at national and international level, develop human resource in recently emerging
technological and inter disciplinary fields such as Genetic Engineering, Bioinformatics,
Endocrinology, Microbiology, Entomology & Parasitology, Biodiversity, Wildlife and
Conservations etc. Our aims and objectives are:
 To impart knowledge about the advances in major disciplines of Zoology.
 To teach different methods of exploration, investigation, organization of data and its
utilization in practical life.
 To equip students with the knowledge and skills for better planning and management of
animal resources, environment, health, medicine, agriculture and livestock in the country.
 To prepare and train students for advanced studies and specialization in recently emerging
technological and interdisciplinary fields such as Genetic Engineering, Endocrinology,
Entomology & Parasitology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biodiversity, Wildlife and
Conservation, etc. After completing the degree students will be able to apply knowledge
to the respective fields more effectively.
 To develop the scientific attitude and demonstrate professional skills in teaching, research
and managerial positions in wide range of professions in national and international
organizations.
