My name is Lin. I was born in Vietnam. My family traveled to America by boat. We came to the United States
because my country has war.
I have dark skin and brown eyes. I have black hair with curls. I am tall and skinny. I am 12 years old. I am friendly
because I talk to people. I am kind because I help my mom. I like to swim. I like to swim because the water feels good. I like
to dance.
In my family, I have a sister, two brothers, a mom, and a dad. My dad is tall. My mom is tall and thin. She has black,
curly hair. My brothers have green eyes and black hair. My sister looks like me.
My native country has trees and rivers. It is wet because it rain a lot. It has high mountains and beautiful flowers.
The weather is hot and wet. Yes, there are seasons in my country. We have winter, spring, summer and fall. Monkeys and
birds live there. Grass and trees grow there. In my native country, I see mountains and rivers. In Vietnam, I hear the wind
and rain. I smell the flowers and wet dirt.
I miss Vietnam very much. I miss all of the things I can see, smell, and hear. I miss my family in Vietnam. I am
happy to be in the United States with my family.

Key Ideas:

