Civilization Project- A Cross-Curricular Myth Creation
Civilizations have depended on myths and stories to explain the
unexplainable for thousands of years. These myths have been
passed down orally, in print, in graphics, and in plays. Many of
those myths have been used to explain the mysticism and unknown
that the universe represents. In a group, we are asking you to
create and present a myth of the night sky. Use planning and time
management to create your best work.
Science Components (these can be present in your planning only)
-Name of constellation
-Is it a circumpolar, summer or winter constellation and why?
-Does it appear in the northern or southern hemisphere?
-Draw the rotation of your constellation in all four seasons (reference your star chart to
look at other constellation movement).
-What month is the best time to see your constellation?
-Is it a part of an asterism?
-Draw the mythical character/animal that goes with your constellation
