Historic House Tour 2014 The Historic House Tour featuring nine classic homes will be held Sunday, June 22 in one of Allentown’s most unique and historic neighborhoods. The House Tour features a range of classic Allentown architecture ranging from sumptuous Edwardian interiors and Georgian townhomes. Visitors can see the progress of the mansion at 1604 W. Hamilton St. with its elegant woodwork and contemporary open floor plans. The owners recently completed their dream kitchen, complete with a butler’s pantry and French doors overlooking stately 100-year-old trees. The Georgian townhome (need address) was extensively renovated in 1945 in English Regency style with a secret garden and underground garage and tunnel connecting it to the house. A free shuttle will be available to 2 City Center so visitors can view the renaissance underway in downtown along with a panoramic view of the Lehigh Valley from sixth floor of the newly constructed office building at 7th and Hamilton streets. In addition, The Vault, located at 634 Hamilton Street in the former Lehigh Valley Trust Company building, will be open for tours. The building has been transformed into one of the region’s most unique event centers and visitors can marvel at the restored interior featuring marble fireplaces, molding highlighted in gold leaf, and spectacular stained glass sky light. The shuttle will also stop for refreshments, compliments of Hummus House, at 1502 W. Chew Street. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the tour. Pre-tour ticket sale locations are Albrights Hardware, C. Leslie Smith, Phoebe Floral, Walter’s Pharmacy, Hummus House, Art-In-The-Park, and BoutiqueToGo. Tickets will also be available at Art-in-the-Park. Day of tour tickets will be on sale at Episcopal Church of the Mediator at 1620 W. Turner Street.
