Art Encounters (preschoolers and carer)
Does your preschooler enjoy art? This hour long class will enable your child to work with mixed
media in a safe, creative environment alongside a parent or carer. Maximum five students in class.

Learn to Draw (5 to 7 yrs)
This engaging class is designed for young artists who are interested in developing their drawing skills.
This is a skills based class where the activities are designed to develop skills and confidence in the

Drawing & Painting (8 yrs and over)
Our experienced tutors are artists in their own right who will inspire and teach the art of drawing and
painting. Basic skills in both areas will be taught. The students’ skills will be challenged as their
abilities increase.

Art for Absolute Beginners
For people who have always wanted to learn to draw and paint. Using basic tools such as pencils you
will learn line work, light and shade, tone and composition. Painting will follow as your confidence
builds. Liz and Farimah will guide you to produce lovely works of art.

Contemporary Art
Throughout this course, you will learn new ways of creating art from altering surface and mixing
media to using images and collage. At the end of the course, you will have two to three finished
pieces which will extend your practice and imagination.

Using a variety of mediums including pencil, pastel, acrylics and charcoal, enhance your drawing and

Oils & Acrylic Painting
This course covers a broad range of subjects, including still life, landscapes, contemporary and
abstract. Students can bring their own subject or Martina can provide. Martina covers colour,
composition and technique. This course will give you a sturdy base to build on or extend your painting
practice. All levels well catered for.

Mosaics
Enjoy a wonderful morning with our talented mosaics tutor, Kathy, and a class who love creating
artworks out of tiles, glass and broken china. Learn all the techniques to create table tops, plaques,
pots or anything you can think of. This class is perfect for the beginner or more advanced student.

Learn how to do washes, masking, colour mixing, composition, drawing, perspective, light and shade

Learn how to create sculptures by hand building, use the wheel and make your own functional pieces.

The Arts Lounge
Book Group
Our Arts Lounge is a comfy and inspiring space to join a group of booklovers for a monthly get
together. The members purchase or borrow the books each month and pay $5 per meeting. Bring
along some supper to share.

Relaxation and Creative Visualisation

Wyreena Community Arts Centre is a historical property in Croydon, featuring The Arts Lounge, The
Conservatory Café, beautiful gardens and a playground. Wyreena provides an exciting range of arts
based term programs and workshops for all ages and abilities.
Wyreena is a place where the community can come together, to enjoy, participate and explore in the
creative arts, within a welcoming and inspiring environment.
The Arts Lounge
The Arts Lounge is a vibrant exhibition space and meeting place. Featuring work by 2D and 3D artists
in a lounge environment, visitors can relax in a comfy chair while enjoying the artwork. The featured
artists change bi-monthly and most work is for sale.
The Arts Lounge is also a program space for evening workshops, book groups and meetings.
Live Music
Once a month on a Friday evening, Wyreena hosts Music Café nights in The Conservatory Café. The
program features some of Melbourne’s most talented musicians. Tickets are $30 per person including
a delicious supper. Drinks can be purchased from the bar. Bookings are essential.
Enrolment Information
New enrolments will be taken from Wednesday 4 December 2015.
Enrolments are not confirmed until a full payment has been received.
Payments can be made via cash, credit card (Visa & MasterCard) or cheque.
Enrolment forms and an enrolment policy agreement are required to be filled out and signed once per
year.
Course commencement is subject to a minimum number of enrolments. Full refunds will be given if a
course is cancelled.
