Imperial College London Department of Chemical Engineering Job Description Job Title Research Associate Job Family/Grade Academic and Research, Level B Responsible to Relevant Project Leader Key Working Relationships Liaise with the Principal Investigator and industrial partners Liaison with: Academic and Research Staff and Postgraduate Students Purpose of the Post To carry out research in Next Generation Technology for Carbon Capture through Physical Separation and, in a timely manner, report and disseminate the findings in collaboration with senior academic members of the project team. Key Responsibilities Research Undertake original research at the highest international level within the research programme on Next Generation Technology for Carbon Capture through Physical Separation. Contribute to the successful delivery of the research objectives of the project by providing research leadership and direction. Publish the results of this research in internationally recognised peer reviewed journals. Present the results of this research at relevant national and international scientific, professional conferences and meetings with sponsors. To attend relevant workshops and conferences as necessary To promote the reputation of the Group, the Department and the College To participate in Group/Unit research meetings and internal seminars To attend relevant meetings Reporting To provide timely updates on research and dissemination output for monthly and quarterly reports and at others times as determined by the work package leader or other appropriate personnel. Person Specification Applicants are required to demonstrate that they possess the following attributes: Education and Qualifications A PhD (or equivalent) in an appropriate science or engineering subject, preferably related to experimental aspects of high-pressure phase equilibria. Knowledge and Experience A proven track record in conducting high quality research, as evidenced by innovative publications in peer reviewed journals. The experience necessary to undertake and lead original research in the areas of experimental high-pressure phase equilibria. Competencies, Skills and Abilities An effective communicator, conveying ideas and concepts clearly and effectively to a range of audiences through a variety of methods and media. A high level of analytical ability, with the potential to provide scientific leadership. An ability to plan work so as to meet deadlines An ability to work as part of a team and to be open-minded and cooperative. Disciplined with a high regard for confidentiality and security at all times. A willingness to undertake any necessary training and career development required for the role. A willingness to travel within the United Kingdom.
