Dr Vaidya completed her senior residency and senior research fellowship in Paediatric
Oncology at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India and joined the Royal Marsden
Hospital, London, UK in 1996 and has been working there for the last 20 years.
Dr Vaidya undertook research in functional imaging in paediatric oncology and was awarded a doctorate (MD) from the Institute of Cancer Research, University of London.
As a Paediatric Oncologist for over 20 years, her special interest and expertise is in paediatric solid tumours and brain tumours. She leads the Royal Marsden Hospital solid tumour multidisciplinary team.
She is the prinicple investigator for several phase I, II and phase III clinical trials. She has published widely in peer reviewed journals and contributed chapters to specialist books in paediatric oncology.
She takes an active role in education of paediatric oncology trainees and is the (Royal College of
Paediatrics and Child Health) RCPCH College tutor for London School of Paediatrics.
In the last three years she has taken active role in the development of the PODC (Paediatric
Oncology in Developing Countries) programmes and conducted foundation workshops in various parts of India, teaching nurses about care of children with cancer.
