Recipients must be registered as home students on the M.Res in Cancer Programme at Newcastle University in the 2016-17 academic year. 2. Award will be made after consideration of all relevant applications in competition. 3. Successful applicants will be chosen to receive the awards on the basis of academic ability as evaluated by consistent high achievement in examination, evidence of commitment to cancer research the and overall quality of the application. 4. Students who are funded from another source are not eligible to apply for these awards. 5. Applications must be submitted by e-mail on the application form attached. The NICR North of England Children’s’ Cancer Research (NECCR) Paediatric Oncology Studentships are awarded to outstanding young British medical students who study the M.Res. in Cancer Programme during their intercalation year. These Studentships are awarded on the basis of proven academic excellence in secondary and tertiary education. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to continued involvement in paediatric oncology research. Awardees must undertake their research project under the supervision of designated academics within the Paediatric Oncology & Haematology Group in the NICR. Applicants are expected to demonstrate that they have no alternative source of income to support their studies. Up to three NICR NECCR Paediatric Oncology Studentships are typically available annually. The deadline for applications for the 2016-2017 academic year is 31st January 2016. Applications are subject to peer review and consideration by the Scientific Advisory Board of the NECCR Each award is worth £14,275 of which £5,000 is payable in equal amounts in October, January, April and July of the academic year directly to the awardee for use towards living expenses, £4,275 covers the Programme fees and £5,000 is for consumable expenditure associated with the research project.
