In order to search for our ideal job we need to be aware of the skills that we
have and what we want from a job. Let’s start by thinking about personal
achievements.
Often when people are asked about their achievements they think this.
Show Slide 3 ‘But I haven’t really achieved anything….’
Of course you have, you just don’t realise it (yet)!
Achievements can be many things; here are some ideas to help you: Show

So, think about your own achievements and list them in your workbooks at
Activity 1. Learners are to complete activity 1 in the workbook
individually.

Every achievement whether it is from work or your day to day life shows
that you have skills or strengths in some way. Recognising this can build
confidence and help with your career – they are often the kind of things that
an employer is looking for. Here’s an example:

Now you have identified your skills and what you want from a work or
learning opportunity let’s look at how to find those opportunities.

Group 1 to discuss what kind of work and learning opportunities there are

opportunities.
Groups to share their findings with everyone. Summarise by showing
slides 9 & 10 and explaining any of the terms that haven’t been covered.

When you start looking for work opportunities the first thing you will see is a
job advert.
Discuss with the group - What kind of information would you expect to see
in a job advert?
Write answers up onto flip – learners can make notes in their workbooks
