There is no cost to attend Belton summer school. Breakfast and lunch are provided free of
charge to all students. Both sessions will be located at Belton Middle School Freshman Center.
Students entering seventh, eighth and ninth grade in the fall of 2015 are eligible to enroll at this location.
School is in session from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
This registration packet is due on May 8th. Please return this packet to the counseling office at
Belton Middle School Freshman Center or Mill Creek Upper Elementary.

Swimming Consent Form
Within the summer school swimming class, the students will be going to the Belton Community
Center aquatic center. Bus transportation is provided for this activity. Neither the Belton School
District nor the Belton Community Center will be responsible for lost/damaged items or any
possible injuries that may take place while at the aquatic center.

Bus Transportation
Bus transportation will be provided for students who live more than one mile from Belton Middle
School/Freshmen Center and within the Belton School District boundaries. These bus stops will be
posted on the district website the 1st week of June (www.beltonschools.org). You can also call Crabtree
Transportation at 331-3200 for more information.
The bus schedule will be created from enrollment forms received on or before May 8. Students enrolled
after May 8 will be provided transportation to and from bus stops determined from enrollment forms
received on or before May 8.
Course Descriptions
Acting -- Students will learn the basic techniques and skills of acting, the theatre, lighting and sound. They will perform a play
after learning techniques of role-playing.
Basketball –The class will emphasize the fundamentals of basketball. The instructors will also focus on footwork, passing,
shooting, and game play.
Camping/Hiking - Students will learn how to properly prepare a campsite and return it to nature undamaged. Students will learn
how to dress for a hike, what to look for during a hike, and how to respect and preserve nature while enjoying its beauty.
Chess – Students will learn the basic fundamentals and strategies of chess.
Computer Applications – Students will learn about various computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and
making Power-point presentations. Also, the students will learn how to use scanners, digital cameras, and camcorders.
Cooking- This program is a fun, interactive way for students to learn and experience hands-on activities that strengthen their
knowledge and skills in making healthy food choices while preparing nutritious snacks and meal items.
Core Course Completion/Remediation—Current 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students who have an incomplete or have failed any
course for any quarter will need to enroll in this course. This course will be taught as part of their overall schedule allowing for
student to take multiple courses for completion as well as have some enrichment.
Lifetime Sports- This course will allow students to learn and participate in many activities such as, whiffle ball, kick ball, golf,
badminton, and many others.
Science-Fiction (Sci-Fi) Analysis- This course will look in-depth at science-fiction books and films through classroom
discussions and projects.
Sewing- Students will create and design clothing with the use of various textiles through hands-on activities.
Swimming – Learn to swim! Students will learn to swim at the Community Center. You must complete and
return the
swimming consent form.
Tennis – Tennis anyone? The class will emphasize groundstrokes and consistency in execution. The instructors will also focus
on footwork, scoring, forehand, backhand, volleys and serve.
Web Design - Students will learn how to build an attractive and useful web page. Students will learn to use graphics, sound,
movies, text, and links while building their own web page.
