INVESTING IN COMMUNITIES
Sacramento
PROMISE ZONE
In April 2015, Sacramento was designated by the White House and HUD as a Promise Zone, one of only eight
cities nationwide. The Promise Zone, which covers specific areas in Sacramento, identifies communities with high
poverty, high unemployment, and uneven access to health care. Organizations within Sacramento will receive
priority funding opportunities for grants to fund services to residents in the Promise Zone. The Promise Zone
partners have identified five goals to improve quality of life and accelerate community revitalization:
 Create Jobs
 Increase Economic Activity
 Improve Educational Opportunities
 Improve Health and Wellness
 Facilitate Neighborhood Revitalization
