Rule : When we want to talk about the past consequences of a situation that is still true at the time of
speaking, we use the past simple in the if-clause and would/wouldn’t + have + 3rd conditional (conditional
perfect) in the main clause.
When we want to talk about a present consequence of a past action, we use the past perfect in the ifclause and the 2nd conditional in the main clause.
CULTURE IN MIND

UNIT 6
FUTURE CONTINUOUS
I hope that, 20 years from now, we’ll all be living in towns like Gaviotas.
Rule : When we want to talk about things that will be in progress at a specific future time, we use the future
continuous. To form the future continuous we use “will” followed by “be” and finally the past partiple.
FUTURE PERFECT
50 years from now, we will have used up all the earth’s natural resources.
Rule : When we want to talk about things that will that will finish some time between now and the specified
time in the future, we use the future perfect. To form the future perfect we use the “will” followed by “have”
and finally the past participle.
