Freelance Development Co-ordinator – Part time Self Injury Self Help (SISH) Information for applicants Responsible to: SISH Trustee Group Responsible for: The coordination of development work including involvement & course facilitation Funding body: Public Health Bristol & South Gloucestershire Contract type: Freelance Place of work: Home office – access to computer, internet and phone required Supervision: Regular line management supervision with SISH Trustee Purpose of role: SISH, funded by Bristol & South Gloucestershire Public Health, are working on two exciting projects to support people who are affected by self harm. The post funded until March 2016 will deliver the following: Promotion & facilitation of “Making Changes” – a course around managing self harm – in South Gloucestershire With the Bristol-wide STITCH Health Improvement Team - development and delivery of further training around self harm for A&E staff at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Southmead Hospital in collaboration with people who have used self harm Evaluation & development of current user-led information available around self harm in A&E to produce a website Working an average of 10 hours per week from home and in the community; there is flexibility on how the hours are structured; however there will be regular meetings with key stakeholders from the local NHS STITCH project. The role will be paid at a daily rate of £150 for 20 days work between September 2015 and March 2016. Background information: SISH (self injury self-help) is a small Bristol based organisation which has been offering a confidential and non-directive support group for people who self injure and Wellbeing workshops for over 13 years. Currently we offer: ● A weekly open support group for those over 18 who self-injure, facilitated by volunteers ● A programme of monthly workshops aimed at promoting good mental health, delivered by paid 'guest' facilitators ● A short, closed course for those wishing to make changes to their self harming behaviour with a focus on wellbeing, and additional support for participants during the process ● Opportunities for involvement in improving local services for people who self harm Developments 2015: we are keen to offer more support groups and courses around the city and work with partners to address the self help support needs of additional populations. Person Specification and Role Description Role Description Duties and Responsibilities A&E/STITCH Project: 1. Facilitating and promoting the SISH on-line community 2. Setting up surveys using online tools and analysis of results and creation of reports 3. Marketing and raising awareness of the existence of the involvement network/group 4. Delivering ‘bitesize’ half hour training sessions for A&E staff 5. Writing accessible information for use online 6. Regular attendance at meetings with NHS stakeholders Making Changes Project: 7. Preparation and planning for the sessions, including basic budget monitoring 8. Marketing and raising awareness of the course in South Gloucestershire 9. Running information day to meet potential participants 10. Facilitating 6 Making Changes sessions (with optional volunteer support) Organisational Responsibilities: 11. Evaluation and writing brief final reports for each project stream 12.
