Dear Parents/Carers
The Geography Department is organising a Year 8 (current Year 7) coasts trip to the Seven Sisters
National Park on 29 and 30 of September 2015. We are hoping to take the whole of Year 8 out
across two days for students to visit the coast to carry out fieldwork for the day. This is vital to
studying Geography as, where possible, we encourage students to learn outside the classroom.
The coastal trip supports the Key Stage 3 national curriculum for Geography and will help with
their coastal assessment.
The girls will depart from Rosebery by coach at 8.45am and will return to school around 3.45pm.
These timings are approximate and will depend on the traffic on the day. The date that your
daughter will attend will be confirmed in September.
Each girl should bring a pencil, pen, rubber and clipboard, if they have one, a packed lunch
and drink; please be aware that there will be nowhere to buy lunch. Girls may bring a small
amount of spending money as there may be an opportunity to buy an ice cream before the
coach journey home. School uniform is not required; however, sensible clothing needs to be
worn including sturdy shoes (there is a lot of walking involved), waterproof jacket and trousers
that dry quickly (not jeans), in case of rain. There is no shelter for the four hours that we will be
by the sea.
The cost for this trip is for travel by coach to and from Sussex. In order to finance this, a
contribution of £14.00 is required. Those students who are eligible for free school meals are only
required to pay half of the contribution amount (please let me know if you are eligible). These
students can also pick up a packed lunch from the Canteen prior to the trip.
We would obviously expect your daughter to follow any instructions given to her whilst off school
premises and for her to act in a responsible and safety conscious manner.
As we will be taking 120 students per day, we require a larger than usual number of adult
chaperones for each day. We are hoping that some parents may be able to join us on the day
to help supervise the groups. It would be a great help if we could get four parents per day to

Please ensure that payment and consent are given by Monday 6 July 2015. If we have not
received parental consent (via the website), your daughter will not be able to attend the trip.
